About the programme

Course Towards Sustainable Development and Carbon Neutrality

The programme is aimed at implementing the strategic initiatives of the Head of State related to the transition to a green economy. New methodological approaches are being developed to assess the technological potential of Kazakhstan’s basic economic sectors.

Resource Efficiency

Recommendations are being developed to enhance the efficient use of natural, human, and managerial resources of enterprises in the mining industry and the agro-industrial complex

New Standards

Theoretical and methodological provisions for economic modernization, incorporating principles of sustainable development and ESG approaches, are being developed

Digital Solutions

Projects of national ESG standards will be introduced, and a digital solution will be created to assess a system of indicators measuring the efficiency of resource utilization at enterprises.

Research Background and Strategic Objectives

The main driving force behind the research is the implementation of the strategic initiatives outlined in the Address of the Head of State titled “The Economic Course of a Just Kazakhstan.” These initiatives include the transition to carbon neutrality and the active development of a green economy to ensure the country’s sustainable future.

However, the objectives related to achieving sustainable development have not yet been fully realized. In this regard, the programme proposes improved approaches to assessing the technological potential of key sectors, the generation of new knowledge, and a modernization strategy up to 2030.

Key Results and Analytical Materials

As a result of the programme’s implementation, draft regulatory documents, development strategies, and methodological recommendations will be prepared. These materials are aimed at introducing sustainable development principles into the basic sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy.
